Update to collision on Highway #6 near Melfort

Highway #6 re-opened this morning following an on-scene investigation by RCMP officers.

Initial investigation has determined a southbound truck and northbound transit van collided in the roadway. The driver of the van, a 60-year-old man from the Melfort Detachment area, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The 25-year-old driver for the truck from the Melfort Detachment area, was transported to hospital for treatment of injuries.

A collision reconstructionist continues to investigate.

Melfort RCMP on scene of serious collision

2024-06-23

On June 22, 2024, at 11:57 p.m., Melfort RCMP responded to a two vehicle collision approximately 3 kilometres north of Melfort on Highway 6. Police and emergency personnel are on scene. The highway is blocked and traffic will be restricted for several hours. Motorists are asked to avoid to the area while police continue to investigate. Melfort RCMP is being assisted by a collision analyst. RCMP will provide an update when available.
