Update: Town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay lifts state of emergency

The town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay has lifted the state of emergency. Residents are permitted to return to their properties.

Hamilton River Road, between Happy Valley-Goose Bay and Sheshatshiu, is now open for travel.

Residents who were displaced from their properties during the fire are now permitted to return to their homes. Non-residents of the following streets are asked to avoid the area while firefighters and investigators continue their work:

  • Halifax Street
  • Toronto Street
  • Winnipeg Street
  • Ottawa Avenue
  • London Street

The investigation is continuing.
