On November 27, 2024 at approximately 7:30 a.m., La Ronge RCMP received a report of a stolen truck in the La Ronge area. Investigation determined unknown suspect(s) broke in to a business in the La Ronge area and stole a truck and multiple tools, including a reciprocating saw and a welder. La Ronge RCMP later located and recovered the stolen truck, which was abandoned near a local worksite.
Later that day at approximately 6:00 p.m., La Ronge RCMP received a report of a break and enter at a residence in Sucker River. Investigation determined an adult male broke in to the residence and stole two firearms.
As a result of investigation, on November 28, 2024 at approximately 10:30 a.m., La Ronge RCMP, with the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP's Critical Incident Response Team, attended a residence in Sucker River and arrested an adult male. A search warrant was executed at the residence and officers located and seized a welder, wrenches, bush cutters, firearm parts, and multiple tools that were previously reported as stolen.
Resulting from continued investigation, 23-year-old Jesse Forest from the La Ronge area is charged with:
- one count, breaking, entering, and committing, Section 348(1)(b), Criminal Code;
- one count, wear a disguise with intent to commit an offence, Section 351(2), Criminal Code;
- one count, fail to comply with release order condition, Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code;
- one count, mischief under $5000 – damage to property, Section 430(4), Criminal Code;
- one count, theft under $5000, Section 334(b), Criminal Code;
- one count, possess break-in instruments, Section 351(1), Criminal Code; and
- one count, theft of truck, Section 333.1(1), Criminal Code.
