A 34-year-old woman is facing drug related charges following a traffic stop that was conducted by Placentia RCMP on October 29, 2024.

At approximately 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Placentia RCMP came upon a parked vehicle that was idling in a commercial parking lot of a business that was closed. The driver and lone occupant of the vehicle appeared to be sleeping or unconscious inside the vehicle.

To assess her safety and well-being, police checked on the woman, who displayed signs of drug impairment. Inside the vehicle, police located and seized quantities of suspected cocaine and crack cocaine, various prescription medications and packages of pills, as well as a variety of drug paraphernalia. The driver was arrested and was transported to Placentia Health Centre where samples of her blood were obtained. The investigation is continuing to determine if charges of drug impaired operation are appropriate.

The woman is set to appear in court at a later date to face charges of possession of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
