Suspended driver arrested for drug trafficking by Wetaskiwin RCMP Crime Reduction Unit

On July 7, 2024, the Wetaskiwin RCMP Crime Reduction Unit observed a vehicle being operated by an individual believed to be under a driving suspension. A traffic stop was conducted; during that time officers performed a search under the Controlled Drugs and Substance Act. A large quantity of Fentanyl, Methamphetamine and Cocaine was located in the vehicle.

As a result of the investigation, RCMP have charged a 29-year-old individual and a 36-year-old individual, both residents of Leduc, Alta., with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Cocaine
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Methamphetamine
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Fentanyl

The 29-year-old individual was additionally charged with Possession of Property obtained by crime less than $5,000.

Both individuals were taken before a justice of the peace and released with their next court date set for Aug. 20, 2024 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Wetaskiwin.
