Truck stolen by offenders

At approximately 11:56 a.m., Strathmore RCMP responded to a report of a shooting at Range Road 282 and Township Road 250, located in Rocky View County. Upon arrival, it was discovered two individuals had been shot, one superficially, the other was fatally wounded.

After the shooting, the suspects fled the scene in a stolen Rocky View County work truck. They dumped the truck at Range Road 260 and Township Road 252, located in Wheatland County, Alta., and fled the scene. RCMP quickly located this vehicle, and a search of the area was conducted with assistance from numerous RCMP detachments, Police Dog Services, RCMP Emergency Response Team as well as Calgary Tactical Team and HAWCS from Calgary City Police. A shelter in place was issued for residents in this area at 1:08 p.m. A thorough search was completed, and the suspects were not located. At 4:34 p.m., the shelter in place was lifted.

RCMP is seeking anyone who may have witnessed either event, especially if they have dash cam video, between 11:50 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., to please contact Strathmore RCMP at 403-934-3968 or Crime Stoppers. A photo of the truck which the suspects stole from the scene of the shooting is enclosed.

DO NOT approach the suspects if encountered. They are considered armed and dangerous.

Strathmore RCMP issue shelter in place – Update #2

Strathmore RCMP is lifting the shelter in place at this time. RCMP thoroughly searched the contained area and are confident the suspects are not in this area. The scene at Range Road 252 and Township Road 260 is being processed, so please avoid the area to allow officers to do their jobs.

The suspects are still at large, and there is no further information regarding them. The investigation continues and updates will be sent as the situation develops. Trust that the RCMP and their partners are doing everything they can to successfully resolve this situation.

Strathmore RCMP issue shelter in place - Update

Strathmore RCMP are still on scene at the noted location and are advising that they are searching for two armed and dangerous suspects.

The shelter in place is still in effect for the following area:

  • North border - Township Road 262
  • East border – Township Road 245
  • South border – Township Road 252
  • West border – Township Road 255

For public and police safety, please avoid the area.

Strathmore RCMP issue shelter in place

Strathmore RCMP and partners are currently on scene at a serious police incident and are issuing a shelter in place. Containment has been set up, and police need everyone to stay away.

Residents within these Township Roads are asked to stay inside, and do not answer your doors for anyone.

  • North border - Township Road 262
  • East border – Township Road 245
  • South border – Township Road 252
  • West border – Township Road 255

An update will be sent when the incident is over.
