Strathcona County RCMP Drug Unit make significant drug seizure

Strathcona County RCMP Drug Section has successfully disrupted drug trafficking operations in the area. During a lengthy investigation spanning from November 2023 to May 2024, the unit obtained twenty-four judicial authorizations and executed two residential search warrants and two vehicle search warrants in Edmonton. Two individuals involved in drug trafficking in Strathcona County and the greater capital region, were arrested in this operation.

During the search warrants police located:

  • 9.6 kg Methamphetamine
  • 5.58 kg Fentanyl
  • 7.13 kg Cocaine
  • 1.3 kg Cannabis
  • 576 Capsules of Nabilone
  • 32 Capsules of Methylphenidate
  • 64.16 g Methcathinone
  • 410.44 g MDMA
  • 2002 g buffering agent
  • Drug paraphernalia
  • 2 batons, 3 taser/stun guns, 1 can pepper spray
  • 1 handgun and 1 knife
  • 140 rounds of ammunition
  • $116,130.00 in Canadian Currency
  • 179 cartons of illegal tobacco cigarettes

A 45-year-old individual, a resident of Edmonton, has been charged with:

  • Drug Trafficking (x3)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x3)
  • Sell restricted firearm
  • Possess restricted firearm without a licence (x2)
  • Possess a loaded restricted firearm (x2)
  • Possess an imitation restricted firearm (x2)
  • Transport restricted firearm in a carless manner
  • Possess restricted weapon (x3)
  • Proceeds of crime exceeding $5,000

A 38-year-old resident of Edmonton has been charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x3)
  • Proceeds of crime exceeding $5,000
  • Possess unstamped tobacco

Both individuals were released from custody with conditions and are scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice on June 28, 2024.
