On August 29, 2024 at approximately 3:30 a.m., Buffalo Narrows RCMP received a call for service in Buffalo Narrows. On-duty officers began travelling there from a prior call for service in Turnor Lake.

One of the responding officers was travelling in a police vehicle on the 909 grid road.

The police vehicle struck a pedestrian who was on the grid road. The incident occurred in a rural area, several kilometres from the Highway #155/grid road junction.

The officer, who was not physically injured, immediately called for an ambulance and provided first aid to the pedestrian until EMS arrived.

The pedestrian was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. He has been identified as a 31-year-old male from Clearwater River Dene Nation and his family has been notified.

As required by The Police Act, 1990, Saskatchewan RCMP notified the Saskatchewan Serious Incident Response Team (SIRT). SIRT will investigate the circumstances of the collision and the pedestrian's death.
