Our definition of a Stetson might be a little different than what the average person from Texas might think is a Stetson, but when Cpl. Marie-Michèle Ouimet participated in a recent ceremony in Dallas, respect for the RCMP Stetson was apparent.

The Consulate General of Canada in Dallas, Texas invited the RCMP to participate in an event aimed to welcome newly arrived RCMP liaison officer, Mathews McGraw, to their region. In addition, the event underscored a visit by CBSA and IRCC leadership in Dallas.

Cpl. Ouimet also took the opportunity to visit Garland, Texas to tour the Dorfman Milano Hat Factory. There she witnessed the process of manufacturing the iconic RCMP Stetsons from start to finish. What better place to have our iconic Stetsons made than a state known for their ten-gallon hats?!

Mayor LeMay and the Dorfman Milano team were very welcoming - It was the first time a Mountie in Red Serge visited their facility.

RCMP also visited the Austin Mounted Police stables, who welcomed the Mounties with a tour of the stables, demonstrating a few drills with their working horses and even let them ride their horses.

The trip left a lasting positive impression on everyone involved and helped to forge deeper relationships with the local Texas defence and security operations.
