The St. Stephen RCMP is asking for the public's help following a hit and run involving a pedestrian in St. Stephen, N.B.

On October 3, 2024, at approximately 6:30 a.m., members of the St. Stephen RCMP Detachment and Ambulance New Brunswick responded to a report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle on Pleasant Street in St. Stephen. The victim, a 24-year-old woman, had been struck by a vehicle and died at the scene as a result of her injuries.

Early in the investigation, police have reason to believe that the woman was struck by a vehicle at a high rate of speed, travelling Eastbound on Pleasant Street. The vehicle did not remain at the scene.

Police are currently working to identify the suspect vehicle that is believed to have significant front-end damage, and are asking for the public's help.

Members of the New Brunswick RCMP's Forensic Investigative Services, West District Crime Reduction Unit, Forensic Collision Analyst Team, and the New Brunswick Coroner's Office are assisting with the investigation.

Detours were put in place on Pleasant Street between Spring Street and Riverside Drive while police remained on scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
