June 19th, 2024, Stratford, Prince Edward Island… PEI RCMP were following up on an arrest warrant when they got in a foot pursuit and arrested a 41-year-old Stratford man. He is now facing new charges.
On June 19th, 2024, PEI RCMP Provincial General Investigation Section with the assistance from the Stratford RCMP, were following up on an outstanding arrest warrant. RCMP officers were seeking to arrest a man who was wanted in connection with the following charges out of Charlottetown:
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime under $5,000 Section 354(1)(a)cc;
- Fail to Comply with Probation Section 733.1(1)cc;
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose Section 88(2)cc;
- Possession of a Firearm/Prohibited Weapon Section 92(3)(a)cc;
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm Section 91(3)cc;
- Careless use of a Firearm Section 86(1)cc.
Police located the wanted man in Stratford, he fled on foot when he saw police, and he was safely arrested a few hundred metres away. As a result of the arrest, RCMP officers recovered property stolen from Charlottetown in April, 2024. 41-year old James Bouillion Savard was remanded into custody and will appear in Charlottetown Provincial Court June 24, at 3:00 p.m. to answer to the previous charges as well as additional charges of Resisting Arrest, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, and Breach of Probation.
"When the court issues an arrest warrant, police take action, RCMP located this man in Stratford bringing him back before the courts" says Cpl Gavin Moore Media Relations Officer for the PEI RCMP.
