Lunenburg County District RCMP has arrested a man and a woman for impaired driving.
On December 19, at approximately 2:40 p.m., RCMP officers responded to a report of a woman driving a Hyundai Elantra in Petite Riviere Bridge who was suspected to be impaired. Officers patrolled the surrounding area and located the Elantra on New Cumberland Rd., in New Cumberland. They conducted a traffic stop and found a man operating the vehicle with a female passenger.
The investigating officers noted signs of alcohol impairment in the driver and he was arrested for impaired operation. Further investigation indicated the passenger had previously been operating the car. She also showed signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired operation.
Both the man and the woman were taken to the Cookville RCMP Detachment to provide breath samples, with the man providing samples of 360mg% and 340mg%, more than four times the legal limit. The woman provided breath samples of 270mg% and 260mg%, and was also found to be under a court order not to consume alcohol.
The woman, 32-year-old Victoria Langille of New Canada, was held in custody and appeared in Bridgewater Provincial Court on December 20. She was charged with Impaired Operation of a Conveyance and three counts of Failure to Comply with a Court Order.
The 55-year-old man, also from New Canada, was released from custody and will appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on February 26 to face charges of Impaired Operation.
