Prince District RCMP responded to three abandoned house fires in the last three days

  • October 30 at 5:20 a.m. Prince District RCMP and fire officials responded to a report of a structure fire at an unoccupied residence in Skinners Pond. This property had been vacant for some time and the structure was fully engulfed in the fire.
  • November 1 at 4:40 a.m. police and fire officials responded to an incident at an abandoned house in St Edward. Police found evidence of attempts at starting the fire.
  • While responding to the second incident another attempted fire was discovered at 5:21 a.m. two kilometres away in St Louis. The second attempted fire was also an abandoned home. In both cases attempts had been made to ignite the buildings on fire but they were successfully extinguished.

The Miminegash Fire Department responded to the two incidents from this morning and Tignish Fire responded to the one in Skinners Pond. All three fires have been determined to be suspicious in nature and no one was injured in these incidents. The Prince District RCMP is asking anyone with information about these fires to contact the Prince District RCMP at 902-436-9300 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS). PEI RCMP continue to investigate these incidents.
