PEI RCMP were honoured to participate with members of the Island's Sikh community to recognize Sikh Heritage Month in Canada. RCMP Chaplain Saveneet Singh welcomed several of our team as we gathered to celebrate Vaisakhi, for the first time. The event serves as a reminder of the values of courage, selflessness, and righteousness exemplified by the Khalsa community, inspiring devotees to embody these virtues in their lives. In keeping with customs, we followed Sikh rules while participating in the parade covering our heads and folding our hands.
The opportunity to learn and share with the Sikh community in PEI was appreciated by everyone who attended. "Our Island is an amazing place where everyone can be welcomed, and for PEI RCMP, it's a sincere pleasure to serve all Islanders," said PEI RCMP Commanding Officer, Chief Superintendent Kevin Lewis. "I would like to thank the Sikh community for their gracious welcome and involving us in their celebration. It was a pleasure to be their guests," added C/Supt Lewis.
