PEI RCMP are investigating a single vehicle collision that resulted in the death of one person.

On August 2, 2024 at approximately 5:00 a.m. PEI RCMP responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on the TransCanada Highway and Route 1A in the Albany area. This area is commonly known as the Albany Y.

A single vehicle with 4 occupants was travelling from Charlottetown and took the off ramp for the Summerside exit. It appears the vehicle lost control and then rolled off the road. One of the occupants was pronounced dead at the scene, two other individuals were transported to Prince County Hospital with serious injuries, and one person was treated for minor injuries.

The area was closed to traffic for several hours as an RCMP traffic re-constructionist was called in to assist with the investigation, which is still ongoing.

PEI RCMP, and all First Responders involved in this incident offer their condolences to the families affected by this incident.
