PEI RCMP Ask for Public’s Help with Arson in Souris Area

PEI RCMP are asking the public for any information they may have regarding a fire at a property on MacPhee Avenue that happened Monday morning, August 5, 2024.

At approximately 11:45 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2024 Souris RCMP responded to a call concerning a fire at a property located at 29 MacPhee Avenue. Souris Fire Department also responded to the call. While working the investigation, police found indications the fire may had been deliberately set. As a result, an RCMP Forensic Identification Unit, along with RCMP Dog Services arrived on scene to assist in the investigation. The PEI Fire Marshall was also involved.

While this is the second suspicious fire in the area, police believe these incidents are connected and not random. Police believe there is no broader risk to the public.
