On November 22, 2024, at approximately 1:45 am, Norway House RCMP responded to a house in the community, following a call for police assistance. A resident indicated that a male was agitated and armed with an edged weapon within the home.
When officers arrived, the male was outside of the residence and armed with an edged weapon.
Despite numerous orders to drop the weapon, the male advanced towards police and an officer discharged their firearm.
Officers provided medical aid until Emergency Medical Services arrived. The 17-year-old male from Norway House Cree Nation (Kinosao Sipi) was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The Manitoba Independent Investigation Unit (IIU) has been notified and are taking carriage of the investigation.
