New Brunswick RCMP releases 2023 Annual Report, Fredericton, N.B.
The New Brunswick RCMP has released its 2023 Annual Report: Working together to create a safer New Brunswick, and the full report is now available online.
The annual report underlines the important police work that the New Brunswick RCMP has done throughout the year and demonstrates our commitment to accountability and transparency.
In 2023, the New Brunswick RCMP responded to 148,849 calls for service, a 0.69% decrease from 2022. Among the many statistics also available in the report:
- The top criminal code offence in 2023 was for assault, with 3,248 occurrences recorded by police, equal to 2022.
- The RCMP issued 29,519 tickets for traffic enforcement in 2023, almost half of which were for speeding (14,541).
- 81 vehicle collision-related fatalities, 65.4% of which involved impairment or not wearing a seatbelt.
"We continue to work closely with the communities we serve and our partners across New Brunswick," says Cpl. Ouellette of the New Brunswick RCMP. "Reporting crime and suspicious activity helps police investigate files to their fullest. The more information that we have, the more likely for a positive outcome. Every piece of the puzzle is important as we target those causing the most harm in our communities."
