Lunenburg County District RCMP has charged a man with numerous weapons offences after executing a search warrant at a home in Chester Grant.

On December 8, at approximately 4:20 p.m., Lunenburg County District RCMP was called to assist EHS after paramedics responded to an unknown emergency involving a man.

At the scene, an officer quickly noticed that the man was wearing what appeared to be body armour. The officer approached the man, but he pushed the officer back before leaving the ambulance and entering into a nearby residence. A few minutes later, the man came back outside where he was safely arrested.

Later that evening, the Lunenburg County District RCMP General Investigation Section, assisted by Lunenburg County District RCMP General Duty, executed a search warrant at a home on Grand Lake Rd.

At the residence, officers seized numerous unsecured weapons, a sawed-off shotgun, ammunition, body armour and a ghillie suit.

Joel Isaiah Hallier, 30, of Halifax, faces 25 charges including but not limited to:

  • Resisting Arrest
  • Unsafe Storage of Firearm
  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Failure to Comply with Conditions of a Release Order

Hallier was remanded into custody and will appear in Bridgewater Provincial Court on January 9 at 9:30 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing and further charges are expected
