Grande Prairie RCMP Crime Reduction Team make arrest following traffic stop

On Aug. 7, 2024, at approximately 11:50 p.m., Grande Prairie RCMP crime reduction team were conducting routine patrols when they observed a truck that had parked in two parking stalls, including a disabled parking stall.

At this time, the crime reduction team initiated a traffic stop. During the course of the traffic stop, officers observed a controlled substance. As the investigation continued, officers also located the following items: 544 grams of Methamphetamine, 25 grams of Cocaine, various items consistent with drug trafficking and weapons, including a 'stun gun.'

As a result of our investigation, Grande Prairie RCMP have charged a 32-year-old individual, a resident of Beaverlodge, Alta., with the following offences:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon or restricted weapon
  • Carrying a concealed weapon
  • Fail to comply with release order condition x2

The individual was brought before a justice of the peace and was remanded into custody. They are scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 26, 2024, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie.
