Grand Falls Windsor RCMP investigates property damages at construction site; seeking public assistance

Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP is seeking assistance from the public following property damages (mischief) that recently occurred at the newly constructed site for the Commemoration of the 200th Anniversary of the Death of Demasduit on Blueberry Hill in Botwood.

On August 14, at approximately 7:30 a.m., Grand Falls-Windsor RCMP received a report that the newly constructed site for Truth and Reconciliation had been damaged by an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) sometime over night, between the evening of August 13 and the morning of August 14.

On August 15, at approximately 8:00 p.m., police received a report of ATVs doing donuts and causing damage to the area. Officers attended the area; however, the ATV had departed prior to police arrival. Additional damages were observed at a nearby hydro-seeded area.

The investigation is continuing.
