Drug trafficking charges laid after Délı̨nę RCMP arrest wanted man

On August 22nd, 2024, Délı̨nę RCMP officers received a tip that a person with several warrants for his arrest was about to arrive in the community on a flight. Officers attended the airport and arrested the man without incident.

During the arrest, approximately 17 grams of suspected cocaine was located, along with other paraphernalia indicative of drug trafficking.

43-year-old William McNeely of Yellowknife has since been charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
  • Fail to comply with release order conditions, contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the Criminal Code

He was held to appear before a Justice of the Peace and subsequently remanded into custody, to appear in court again on August 28th, 2024.

Investigation into this matter remains ongoing.
