Saskatchewan RCMP locates white Mercedes involved in inter-provincial investigation in Shaunavon/Eastend area

2024-06-22

Note: Saskatchewan RCMP reiterates messaging by Manitoba RCMP earlier this week that at this time there is no evidence to determine the children are in imminent danger and an AMBER Alert is not being issued at this time. We are seeking the public's assistance to report any sightings of or interactions with Astrid Schiller and/or her children to contact police to report this.

This news release is issued in relation to an ongoing police investigation across multiple provinces.

On Friday, June 21, 2024, Saskatchewan RCMP received a report of an abandoned vehicle at Pine Cree Regional Park, which is located in the Cypress Hills between Shaunavon and Eastend, SK. The abandoned vehicle was a white 2018 Mercedes GLC – and is determined to be the vehicle previously associated with 55-year-old Astrid Schiller. Astrid and her three missing children: Leon, 12-years-old, Christopher, 11-years-old, and Thomas, 9-years-old – were not with the vehicle and have not been located. Investigation has determined Astrid may have been seen last on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 in the Pine Cree Regional Park area with her children and also in Assiniboia, SK sometime this past week.

Astrid and the three children may be staying at various campgrounds/parks. We do not have information about a vehicle they may be driving in or associated to at this time, nor a direction of travel.

There is an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Child Abduction for Astrid Schiller from Durham Regional Police, which is not extended into the province of Saskatchewan.

If you see Astrid and/or her three children: Leon, Christopher and Thomas, or if you interacted with them in the past week, please call RCMP by dialing: 310-RCMP or 911 an emergency. You can report a tip anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

On June 16, 2024, at approximately 2:00 am, Boissevain RCMP received a report that three children, who had been previously reported missing in December 2023, from Durham, Ontario, were at the Boissevain Port of Entry.

Officers arrived on scene and located the three children, who were unharmed and with their mother, 55-year-old Astrid Schiller. The children were immediately taken into care.

The mother was arrested as a result of an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Child Abduction from Durham Reginal Police. Astrid Schiller was later released from custody as the warrant was not extended into the province of Manitoba.

On June 17, 2024, at 1:25 am, Blue Hills RCMP received a report that the three children were no longer in care at a residence in Forrest, Manitoba, and were missing.

The RCMP is searching for the three boys: Leon, 12-years-old, Christopher, 11-years-old, and Thomas, 9-years-old.

RCMP believe that the children are with their mother Astrid Schiller. She is believed to be driving a white 2018 Mercedes GLC with British-Columbia licence plate: SJ975W.

If you've seen this vehicle or have any information on the current whereabouts of these children, please contact your local police service, 911, the Blue Hills RCMP at 204-726-7522, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477, or secure tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com.
