Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit (MCU) continue to investigate found human remains that were located in Bow Valley Provincial Park on Nov. 3, 2023.

An autopsy was conducted on Nov. 6, 2023, and the manner of death was deemed a homicide. The autopsy also confirmed the remains were those of a male.

Alberta RCMP MCU are seeking the public's assistance to identify the male.

The remains were located inside a white 1998 Dodge Ram, bearing Alberta licence plate CNF1057. This truck was stolen from the Dalhousie neighbourhood in northwest Calgary in the early morning hours of Oct. 24, 2023.

Cochrane RCMP investigating found human remains - Update

On Nov. 3, 2023, Cochrane RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle which was located at Widowmaker Trail Head, located in Bow Valley Provincial Park. Upon arrival, officers discovered human remains inside the vehicle.

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit has taken carriage of this investigation.

An autopsy was conducted on Nov. 6, 2023. The results of this autopsy will not be released pending notification of next of kin.

RCMP are seeking assistance in this investigation. The vehicle which contained the deceased is the same truck in the included picture. It is a 1998 White Dodge Ram, bearing Alberta licence plate CNF1057. This truck was stolen from the Dalhousie neighbourhood in Northwest Calgary in the early morning hours of Oct. 24, 2023.

Cochrane RCMP investigating found human remains

On Nov. 3, 2023, at 10:25 a.m., Cochrane RCMP responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle which was located at Widowmaker Trail Head, located in Bow Valley Provincial Park. Upon arrival, officers discovered human remains inside the vehicle.

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes Unit have been called in to investigate.

An autopsy is scheduled at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary on Monday, Nov. 6, 2023.

RCMP are seeking public assistance regarding this investigation, specifically asking for dash cam video from the area around Highway 1 and Highway 40, between Oct. 29, 2023 and Nov. 3, 2023, which may show smoke from the area around Widowmaker Trail Head.
