On April 3, 2024, Alberta RCMP Major Crimes took carriage of an investigation after human remains were located in Rocky View County. The matter was investigated as a homicide. The deceased was identified as 33-year-old Kyle Schuiling, a resident of Calgary. On May 3, 2024, a 39-year-old individual, a resident of Calgary, was charged with the first-degree murder of Kyle Schuiling.
On Aug. 13, 2024, RCMP Major Crimes Unit arrested and charged another person responsible for the homicide of Kyle Schuiling.
A 37-year-old individual, a resident of Vernon, B.C., was also charged with the first-degree murder of Kyle Schuiling. After a judicial interim release hearing, the 37-year-old individual was remanded into custody to appear in Alberta Court of Justice in Calgary on Aug. 29, 2024.
