38-year-old man charged in connection with child pornography investigation

A 38-year-old man from Petit-Rocher, N.B., has been charged in connection with an investigation into child pornography in the community.

The investigation, led by the New Brunswick RCMP's Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit, began in November 2022, following information received from the RCMP's National Child Exploitation Crime Centre (NCECC).

On October 12, 2023, police executed a search warrant at a residence in Petit-Rocher-Nord as part of the ongoing investigation. A 38-year-old man was arrested at the scene, and police seized several electronic devices. The man was released from custody on strict conditions pending a future court appearance.

On July 29, 2024, Serge Aubé appeared in court, and was charged with possession of child pornography. He is scheduled to return to court on August 26 at 9:30 a.m.

The New Brunswick RCMP's Internet Child Exploitation Unit includes members from the Saint John Police Force and the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force. The RCMP's Digital Forensic Services Unit, Chaleur Region RCMP detachment and the Northeast Community Crime Reduction Unit also assisted with the investigation.
