15-year-old boy dies following two-vehicle collision

A 15-year-old boy from Berry Mills, N.B., has died following a two-vehicle collision in Moncton, N.B.

On July 18, 2024, at approximately 2:15 p.m., members of the Caledonia RCMP detachment responded to a report of a collision between a vehicle and an all-terrain vehicle (ATV) on Highway 2 in Moncton.

The collision is believed to have occurred when the ATV was traveling East on the shoulder of the eastbound lane of the Highway and collided with a parked vehicle. The driver and lone occupant of the ATV was transported to the hospital with serious, life-threatening injuries. The three occupants of the vehicle were not injured.

On July 19, 2024, the driver of the ATV died in hospital as a result of his injuries.

Members of the Moncton Fire Department and Ambulance New Brunswick also attended the scene. A collision reconstructionist assisted in the investigation.

Highway 2 was completely closed for two and a half hours, but has since re-opened.

The investigation is ongoing.
