Wetaskiwin RCMP investigate attempted abduction

On July 26, 2023, at 7:26 p.m., Wetaskiwin RCMP received a report of a possible attempted child abduction.

Investigators were advised that a seven-year-old and a 15-year-old were walking on a side street in Pigeon lake when they were approached by a woman who exited her vehicle and started to speak to them. After a short conversation, the woman grabbed the seven-year-old. The child was able to break free, and both youths ran away.

After continued investigation, RCMP have been able to obtain a photo of a potential suspect vehicle as well as a composite sketch of the female suspect who is described as:

  • fair complexion
  • 40's-50's in age
  • 180-190 pounds
  • approximately 5 foot 6 inches tall
  • long to mid shoulder length grey hair
  • very vibrant blue eyes
  • small hairs around the mouth and chin
  • wearing a long black coat.

RCMP are providing a photo of a vehicle seen in the area at the time of the offence that is believed to be driven by the suspect.

The vehicle depicted is described as a 2015-2018 blue Ford Edge.
