News release

A recent RCMP traffic enforcement operation in the Southeast region of New Brunswick has resulted in 15 tickets and 13 warnings being issued, as well as charges and arrests.

On April 27, 2023, members of the Hampton and Sussex RCMP detachments worked together to conduct eight traffic enforcement operations in urban and rural areas of Hampton, Sussex, Damascus, Willow Grove, Upper Loch Lomond and Belleisle.

In total, police stopped 147 vehicles. Fifteen tickets were issued for a variety of traffic offences, as well as 13 written warnings. A total of six drivers were charged, three for driving while impaired and three for driving while suspended. One person was arrested for fleeing from police, and one person was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.

"This enforcement operation was the result of complaints we have received from the public about reoccurring issues in these areas," says Sgt. Tyson Nelson of the Hampton RCMP Detachment. "Our goal is always to keep the public safe by limiting the number of dangerous drivers on our roadways."

The public can assist in keeping dangerous drivers off the road by reporting them to police. If you see a dangerous or a suspected impaired driver, call 911. Your description of the driver, vehicle, licence plate number and direction of travel can assist police in making New Brunswick roads safer.
