Three people are deceased and two more were injured following a multiple-vehicle collision in Whites Cove, N.B.
On July 25 2023, shortly after 1 p.m., members of the West District RCMP responded to a multiple-vehicle collision on Highway 2 in Whites Cove. The collision took place in a section of the highway where motorists use the eastbound lane to circulate in both directions due to construction. Four vehicles were involved, but the cause of the collision is still undetermined at this time.
A 55-year-old woman from Oshawa, Ontario, a 54-year-old man from Greater-Lakeburn, NB and a 32-year-old man from Timber River, NB died at the scene as a result of their injuries. Two individuals were also transported to the hospital with what were believed to be serious injuries.
Firefighters from multiple municipalities, Ambulance New Brunswick, Department of Justice and Public Safety, Department of Transportation and Infrastructure attended the scene. A member of the New Brunswick Coroner's office is assisting with the ongoing investigation.
A RCMP Collision Reconstructionist also attended the scene and is assisting to determine the cause of the collision.
The investigation is ongoing.
