Thompson RCMP traffic stop leads to drug seizure

On November 1, 2023, at approximately 11:00 am, officers with the Thompson General Investigative Section (GIS), along with assistance from Thompson Rural RCMP and from the Manitoba North District Crime Reduction Enforcement Support Team (CREST), conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle located on Highway 6, near Ospwagan Lake.

The investigation on scene led to the arrest of the four male vehicle occupants for the Possession of a Controlled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking.

A search of the vehicle led to the seizure of approximately 504 grams of cocaine with a potential street value, in Thompson, of over $50,000.00.

Three of the four suspects, a 20-year-old from Thompson, a 21-year-old and a 20-year-old, both from Winnipeg, remain in police custody. A 13-year-old, from Opaskwayak, was released and will be compelled to court at a later date.

Thompson RCMP continue to investigate.
