Thompson RCMP respond to firearm incident

On October 16, 2023, at approximately 10:00 pm, Thompson RCMP responded to a report that a male was in possession of a firearm and ammunition, at a business on Selkirk Avenue, in Thompson.

Employees at a bus company, advised that two males were attempting to board the bus with some bags when they were advised the bags had to be searched.

During the search employees found a loaded magazine and called the police. The males fled the scene with the bags, and it was reported that they were also in possession of a handgun.

Officers immediately attended and began making patrols. The investigation led them to a business on Thompson Drive North. Officers did not locate the suspects, but did find bags belonging to the males.

The bags were searched and officers located approximately 100 grams of suspected cocaine and bear spray.

Officers continued to investigate and on October 18, 2023, at approximately 8:15 am, Traffic Services conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle on Highway 6 in the RM of Woodlands. There were three occupants in the vehicle and it was determined that two were the suspects in the firearm incident from October 16.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a large sum of cash, and a small quantity of drugs.

A 24-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing charges of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. He was released from custody with an upcoming court date.

Jesse Pierre, 23, of Winnipeg has been charged with Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime. He was remanded into custody.

Carrying a Concealed Weapon
Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
Weapons Possession contrary to an Order
Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime

He was remanded into custody.
