Stolen vehicle

On March 7, 2023, at approximately 12:50 pm, RCMP received a report that a vehicle was just stolen from a residence in Thompson. The vehicle was left running in the driveway when it was taken.

While the vehicle was fleeing it got stuck in a snowbank at Waterloo Avenue and Brandon Crescent. A vehicle stopped to assist, and the stolen vehicle managed to get out of the snowbank and sideswiped the other vehicle. A passenger in the vehicle received minor injuries.

RCMP received several calls of an erratic driver and were notified of a vehicle that matched the description stuck on the shoulder of Highway 6. The vehicle was able to get out and continued driving erratically towards the City of Thompson.

An officer located the suspect vehicle and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle refused to stop and continued to drive erratically by travelling at a high rate of speed and almost colliding with other motorists. At that time the decision was made to stop pursuing due to the dangerous driving and risk to public safety.

Officers continued to patrol in the area and located the vehicle stuck in the snow on Station Road. Two females were arrested without incident.

One of the females was 11-years-old and could not be charged.

The other female, 12, is facing charges of:

Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle causing Bodily Harm
Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle
Flight from Police
Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
Theft of Motor Vehicle

Thompson RCMP continue to investigate.
