Kim is originally from Harbour Grace, Newfoundland and Labrador. She is a Public Service Employee who works out of RCMP Headquarters in St. John's.

Kim has worked in a policing environment for 8 years. Her work began in an administrative role with the Toronto Police Service, which was enough to get her hooked – every day was interesting, challenging and exciting. She has worked in Court Document Services, Subpoenas and Records Case Management. She was sworn in as a Special (Citizen) Constable in Ontario to assist with community work. In 2018, Kim returned to her home province of Newfoundland and Labrador and began working in various administrative roles with the Supreme Court and then, the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC).

In 2021, Kim made the move to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Here, she worked in Operational Records Management Systems and Information Management Systems. Although it may not sound like the most exhilarating work, it is important work which, Kim says, she has always loved.

This year, Kim has taken on a new role – she is now in the acting role of RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador's first Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Coordinator.

"I believe working to truly understand and embrace diversity, equity and inclusion is an essential path for the RCMP going forward and I am thrilled to help as we continue on the journey."

In her role as Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Coordinator, Kim is responsible for designing and implementing a plan toward an equitable, diverse and inclusive work environment for the RCMP. Kim will take on the task of building awareness within the RCMP by crafting policies, training, programs and procedures for employees and leadership.

Assistant Commissioner Ebert, Commanding Officer of RCMP NL, created the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee in 2022 to further support the RCMP's mandate to meet the expectations and needs of an increasingly diverse population and workforce. A member of the Committee since its inception, Kim says, "I am an ally and I'm truly passionate about working in an organization that fully supports Equity, Diversity and Inclusion for all. When I heard that there would be a position dedicated to EDI, I simply couldn't pass up the opportunity to apply for it."

Kim looks forward to working toward the RCMP's commitment to building an organization that is inclusive, diverse and equitable in all the ways it can be. Opening doors, changing the way that things are done, breaking barriers – these are just a few of the exciting possibilities coming up on her new path forward with the RCMP.
