Saskatchewan RCMP Prince Albert Crime Reduction Team: two charged after investigation into fraudulent purchase of firearm

On July 24, 2023, officers from Saskatchewan RCMP and Prince Albert Police Service executed a search warrant at a residence on 12th St East in Prince Albert.

The search warrant is part of an ongoing investigation into the fraudulent purchase of a firearm by Saskatchewan RCMP's Prince Albert Crime Reduction Team. Investigation determined an individual purchased a firearm with a stolen credit card and firearm possession and acquisition license (PAL).

Six individuals were arrested without incident at the residence with the assistance of Saskatchewan RCMP's Critical Incident Response Team and the Prince Albert Police Service's Patrol Division and SWAT team. Four were released without charge.

A search of the residence resulted in officers locating and seizing the following items:

  • the fraudulently-purchased firearm;
  • a prohibited firearm, a magazine, ammunition, firearm components and pellet guns;
  • brass knuckles;
  • various edged weapons;
  • various identification cards and PALs;
  • stolen cheques;
  • an ID card printer;
  • cell phones and computers; and
  • various property believed to be stolen.

As a result of investigation, 44-year-old Julie Daigneault and 31-year-old Taylor Lariviere, both from Prince Albert, are each charged with:

  • one count, possession of stolen property under $5,000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code;
  • one count, fraud under $5,000, Section 380(1)(b), Criminal Code;
  • two counts, unlicensed possession of a firearm, Section 92(3)(a), Criminal Code;
  • one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(2), Criminal Code;
  • one count, possession of a firearm obtained by crime, Section 96(2), Criminal Code; and
  • one count, fail to comply with release order condition, Section 145(5)(a), Criminal Code.

Daigneault is also charged with:

  • two counts, possession of a prohibited weapon, Section 91(3), Criminal Code; and
  • one count, unlicensed possession of a prohibited weapon, Section 92(3)(b), Criminal Code.

Lariviere is scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on August 14, 2023 (Information #90500215). Daigneault is scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on August 2, 2023.
