La Ronge, Saskatchewan
On April 12, 2023, La Ronge RCMP received a report of a robbery in La Ronge.
As a result of subsequent investigation, La Ronge RCMP have charged 23-year-old Rhys Croasdale from Calgary with:
- one count, discharged firearm with intent, Section 244, Criminal Code;
- one count, aggravated assault, Section 268(2), Criminal Code;
- one count, assault with weapon, Section 267(a), Criminal Code;
- one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine), Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
- one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(2), Criminal Code; and
- one count, unauthorized possession of a firearm, Section 91(3), Criminal Code.
A warrant has been issued for Rhys Croasdale's arrest and La Ronge RCMP and La Ronge RCMP General Investigation Section are working to locate him.
Rhys Croasdale is described as approximately 5'8" to 5'10" with a slim build and brown hair. A photo of him is attached.
He is known to travel to La Ronge, Calgary and Edmonton but his current whereabouts are unknown.

La Ronge RCMP: Charges laid following report of break and enter with a firearm
2023-04-13
On April 12, 2023, at approximately 8 a.m., La Ronge RCMP received two separate reports of a home invasion and possible discharge of firearms on the 100th block of Nikik Road in La Ronge.
La Ronge RCMP responded immediately and upon arrival, located three occupants inside the home. La Ronge RCMP secured the home in the community to ensure safety is maintained within the vicinity.
Initial investigation determined three males forcibly entered the house wearing masks and one of the males was armed with a firearm. The three masked males searched for another male occupant of the house and exchanged gunfire once he was located. One of the masked males sustained an injury from the exchange of gunfire, while the male occupant of the house fled the scene. The three masked males departed the home in a white Nissan Rogue. Information gathered by police indicated the individuals involved were known to each other.
La Ronge RCMP located the white Nissan Rogue parked at a hospital in the community. Officers located and seized a loaded shotgun from the vehicle. There were no occupants.
Further investigation enabled officers to locate identify and the three masked males.
As a result of investigation to date, La Ronge RCMP have arrested and charged 23-year-old Tyrell Dumais and 38-year-old Cody McKenzie, both from La Ronge District, with the following:
- Break and enter to commit, contrary to Sec. 348(1)(a) of the Criminal Code;
- Use a firearm while committing an indictable offence, contrary to Sec. 85(1)(a) of the Criminal Code;
- Unlawful possession of a firearm, contrary to Sec. 91(1)(a) of the Criminal Code;
- Possession of a weapon for a purpose of committing an offence, contrary to Sec. 88(1) of the Criminal Code;
- Use of a firearm in committing a robbery, contrary to Sec. 344(1)(a) of the Criminal Code;
- Wearing a disguise with intent contrary to Sec. 351(2) of the Criminal Code;
- Pointing a firearm contrary to Sec. 87(1) of the Criminal Code;
- Remove a serial number from a firearm contrary to Sec. 108(a) of the Criminal Code; and
- Use a firearm in a careless manner contrary to Sec. 86(1) of the Criminal Code.
Tyrell Dumais was released on an Undertaking.
Cody McKenzie was also charged with an additional count of Possession of a weapon while prohibited pursuant to Sec. 109 of the Criminal Code and contrary to Sec. 117.01(1) of the Criminal Code. Cody McKenzie is being remanded for court and is scheduled to make his first appearance on April 14th, 2023 in La Ronge.
La Ronge RCMP are working to locate the male occupant of the home who was involved in the exchange of gunfire. Officers are requesting anyone with information about this incident to report it to the La Ronge RCMP by calling (306) 425-6730 or their local police of jurisdiction.
