Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team make arrest for stolen vehicle

On March 14, 2023, at approximately 7:06 p.m., Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team (CRT) were conducting patrols when they observed a stolen Chevrolet Colorado. After the successful use of a tire deflation device, the driver then lost control of the vehicle in Ponoka, Alta. and fled on foot. With the assistance of RCMP Police Dog Service the suspect was located nearby and arrested.

A 20-year-old individual, a resident of Red Deer, was arrested and remanded into custody. The individual was charged with:

  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Obstruct peace officer
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Additional offences under the Traffic Safety Act
