One person dies following two-vehicle collision

One person has died following a two-vehicle collision between a car and a tractor trailer in Saint-Léonard LSD, N.B.

On November 24, 2023, at approximately 4 p.m., members of the Saint-Léonard RCMP detachment responded to a report of a collision between a car and a tractor trailer on Highway 17 in Saint-Léonard LSD. The driver and sole occupant of the car died at the scene as a result of their injuries. The driver and sole occupant of the tractor was uninjured.

The collision is believed to have occurred when the car crossed the centre line and collided head-on with the tractor trailer.

Members of the Saint-Léonard Fire Department, Ambulance New Brunswick, the Department of Justice and Public Safety, and an RCMP collision reconstructionist also attended the scene. A member of the New Brunswick Coroner's office is assisting with the ongoing investigation, and an autopsy will be conducted to positively identify the person, and to determine their exact cause of death.

The investigation is ongoing.
