News release

The New Brunswick RCMP's 2021 Annual Report, Working together to create safe New Brunswick communities, is now available online.

"Each year, we are proud to release our annual report as part of our commitment to being accountable and transparent to the communities we serve," says Cpl. Hans Ouellette with the New Brunswick RCMP. "In 2021, we continued to prioritize efficient and effective approaches to policing, while developing relationships with our communities and partners that we will continue to build upon."

In 2021, the RCMP responded to more than 160-thousand calls for service, including 5,629 calls under the Mental Health Act, a 13.9 per cent increase from 2020. The top call for service in 2021 was for speeding violations, with more than 17-thousand reports.

"We've seen a 15 per cent decrease in drug related offences in 2021 from 2020, which represents the excellent work our Provincial Crime Reduction Unit has been doing to get harmful drugs off of our streets and out of the hands of New Brunswickers," says Cpl. Ouellette. "We have also seen a significant increase in theft over $5000 and property crimes. We recognize that property crime, especially vehicle thefts, have been an ongoing issue in many New Brunswick communities, and our members are working diligently to tackle it."

The annual report also highlights the important police work that the New Brunswick RCMP has done throughout the year, as well as policing priorities and initiatives.

Please note, due to modernization efforts of the public New Brunswick RCMP website, we were unable to publish the 2021 Annual Report publicly in a timely manner. We apologize for the delay.
