Saskatchewan RCMP's Pelican Narrows RCMP and La Ronge Crime Reduction Team (CRT) were conducting proactive patrols in Pelican Narrows on October 23. Officers conducted a traffic stop and observed a loaded magazine in plain view in the vehicle. The three occupants of the vehicle were arrested.
During subsequent searches of one of the arrested individuals and the vehicle, officers located and seized a sawed-off firearm, approximately 21 grams of suspected methamphetamine, approximately three grams of suspected cocaine, a sum of cash and trafficking paraphernalia. A photo of the items is attached.
As a result of continued investigation, 23-year-old Jaden Custer from Pelican Narrows is charged with:
- one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine), Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
- one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine), Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
- one count, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code;
- one count, possession of a firearm while knowing possession is unauthorized, Section 92(3), Criminal Code;
- one count, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code;
- one count, unlicensed possession of a restricted/prohibited firearm with ammunition, Section 95(2), Criminal Code;
- one count, possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, Section 94(2), Criminal Code;
- two counts, weapons possession contrary to order, Section 117.01(3), Criminal Code;
- four counts, fail to comply with probation order, Section 733.1(1), Criminal Code.
Jaden Custer is scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on November 2, 2023 (Information #90507975).
The other occupants of the vehicle were released without charge. Pelican Narrows RCMP and La Ronge CRT continue to investigate.
