Lunenburg District RCMP investigating serious collision

Luneburg District RCMP is investigating a serious collision that occurred on New Cumberland Rd. in Lake Centre, Lunenburg County.

On August 22, 2023, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Lunenburg District RCMP, fire and EHS, responded to a report of a collision on New Cumberland Rd. in Lake Centre. RCMP officers learned that a black Volkswagen GLI was travelling west on New Cumberland Rd. and, a red Hyundai Kona was travelling east, when they collided.

The driver, and lone occupant, of the Volkswagen, a 21-year-old Mount Pleasant woman, suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital by ambulance. She was later transferred to a hospital in Halifax by Lifeflight.

The driver, and lone occupant, of the Hyundai, a 77-year-old Mount Pleasant woman, was uinjured.

A collision reconstructionist attended the scene and the investigation is ongoing.

New Cumberland Rd. was closed for several hours but has since reopened.
