Two people are charged and multiple items seized after a search of a vehicle took place between Ile a la Crosse and Canoe Narrows Monday.

On February 6, 2023, Buffalo Narrows RCMP received a report of a break and enter and theft from a residence in Buffalo Narrows. It was reported that several firearms were stolen from the residence, including several duty items and a firearm belonging to a conservation officer with the Provincial Protective Services Branch. These items were being properly stored at the time the theft was reported.

As a result of extensive investigation by Buffalo Narrows RCMP and Meadow Lake CRT, a traffic stop was initiated on a SUV on Highway #155 between Ile a la Crosse and Canoe Narrows. The vehicle pulled over and a search took place. Police recovered several of the items reported stolen, including the conservation officer's firearm. Other items located inside the vehicle include suspected cocaine and methamphetamine, a quantity of cash, cellular phones, another firearm, a drone, knives, bear mace and a baton.

Two people were in the vehicle and arrested.

35-year-old Justin Sinclair from Green Lake is charged with:

  • 2 counts, possession of weapon in a motor vehicle, section 94(2) of the Criminal Code
  • 1 count, possession of restricted weapon without license/registration, section 95(2) of the Criminal Code
  • 2 counts, possession of weapon obtained by crime, section 96(2) of the Criminal Code
  • 1 count, unauthorized possession of a weapon, section 91(3) of the Criminal Code
  • 1 count, carrying a concealed weapon, section 90(2) of the Criminal Code
  • 1 count, possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, section 88(2) of the Criminal Code
  • 1 count, unsafe storage of firearm, section 86(2) of the Criminal Code
  • 6 counts, possession of weapons contrary to surrender authorization, section 117.01(3) of the Criminal Code
  • 1 count, possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine), section 5(2) of the CDSA
  • 1 count, possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine), section 5(2) of the CDSA

21-year-old Karrianna Petit from Buffalo Narrows is charged with:

  • 2 counts, possession of weapon in a motor vehicle, section 94(2) of the Criminal Code
  • 1 count, possession of restricted weapon without license/registration, section 95(2) of the Criminal Code
  • 2 counts, possession of weapon obtained by crime, section 96(2) of the Criminal Code
  • 1 count, unauthorized possession of a weapon, section 91(3) of the Criminal Code
  • 1 count, carrying a concealed weapon, section 90(2) of the Criminal Code
  • 1 count, possession of weapon for dangerous purpose, section 88(2) of the Criminal Code
  • 1 count, unsafe storage of firearm, section 86(2) of the Criminal Code
  • 4 counts, fail to comply with conditions of an undertaking, section 145(4)(a) of the Criminal Code
  • 1 count, possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine), section 5(2) of the CDSA
  • 1 count, possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine), section 5(2) of the CDSA

Both individuals were remanded for court on February 15, 2023 in Beauval via phone.
