Digby RCMP respond to boat fire

Digby RCMP responded to a report of a boat fire at the Sandy Cove wharf in Digby County.

On September 2, 2023, Digby RCMP and fire, responded to a report of a fishing boat that was on fire at the Sandy Cove wharf in Digby County. RCMP officers learned that a 36' fishing boat was on fire and the fire had spread to a second boat that was docked at the wharf. Once the fire departments were able to extinguish the fire, an investigation into the cause of the fire was conducted.

During the investigation, evidence, including statements and video surveillance, was obtained and reviewed. As a result of the evidence collected, the fire was determined to have been caused by the failure of electrical components on board the 36' fishing boat.

The fire is not suspicious and the investigation has been concluded.
