Bonnyville RCMP have concluded a several months-long drug trafficking investigation within the town and MD of Bonnyville. With the assistance of the Lakeland and Eastern District Crime Reduction Units, multiple search warrants were executed and several arrests made.
As a result of the investigation, police located and seized:
- 30.4 grams of methamphetamine
- 62.5 grams of cocaine
- A stolen 2013 Subarea Impreza
- Tasers
- an imitation firearm
- a crossbow
- Canadian currency
- and other drug trafficking paraphernalia.
A 65-year-old individual a resident of Bonnyville, was arrested on Aug. 16, 2023, and charged with:
- Trafficking methamphetamine (x2)
- Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
- Possession of cocaine
- Operation while impaired
- Operation while prohibited
The 65-year-old individual was taken before a justice of the peace and was remanded into custody with his next court date set for Aug. 22, 2023, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Bonnyville.
A 24-year-old individual, a resident of Bonnyville, was arrested July 4, 2023, and charged with:
- Trafficking cocaine (x3)
- Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
- Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon (x2)
- Carrying a concealed weapon
The 24-year-old individual was taken before a justice of the peace and was released from custody with his next court date set for Sept. 19, 2023, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Bonnyville.
A 46-year-old individual, a resident of Bonnyville was arrested July 4, 2023, and charged with:
- Possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking
- Refusal to comply with demand
The 46-year-old individual was taken before a justice of the peace and was released from custody with his next court date set for Sept. 5, 2023, at the Alberta Court of Justice in Bonnyville.
A 36-year-old individual, a resident of Bonnyville, was arrested on July 4 202 and charged with possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking.
The 36-year-old individual was taken before a justice of the peace and release from custody with her next court date set for Sept. 5, 2023 at the Alberta Court of Justice in Bonnyville.
"Drug abuse has a devastating impact on our communities," says Staff Sergeant Sarah Parke Detachment Commander Bonnyville, "Focusing our efforts on these drug traffickers can have a larger impact on violence and property crimes as well."
