73-year-old man charged following armed robbery

Update: On August 29, 2024, Radec Daniel Larmet appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was sentenced to nine years in prison for armed robbery, including a two years concurrent sentence for disguise with intent. In addition to jail time, he is subject to a lifetime firearms prohibition, some forfeiture orders, and is required to submit a sample of his DNA. Upon his release, he will also be prohibited from having contact with the victims.

A 73-year-old man from St-Catharines, ON, has been charged following an armed robbery in Moncton, N.B.

On June 12, 2023, shortly after 10 a.m., members of the Codiac Regional RCMP responded to a report of an armed robbery at a bank on Cornhill Street in Moncton. A man who was believed to be in possession of a firearm entered the bank and demanded money from the teller. He then fled the scene before police arrived with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was injured during the incident.

Through a subsequent investigation, police were able to identify a person of interest in connection with the incident.

On June 20, police conducted searches of the downtown area of Moncton in an attempt to locate the person of interest. Later the same day, police located and arrested a 73-year-old man from St-Catharines, ON.

On June 21, Radec Daniel Larmet appeared in Moncton Provincial Court and was charged with one count of armed robbery. He was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on June 23 at 1:30 p.m. for a bail hearing.

The investigation is ongoing.
