A 59 -year-old woman from Saint-Basile, N.B., has died following a single-vehicle crash in the community.
On October 23, 2023, at approximately 6:45 a.m., members of the Saint-Léonard RCMP responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Monseigneur Lang Road in Saint-Basile. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was transported to hospital with what were believed to be serious injuries.
On October 24, the 59-year-old woman died in hospital.
The collision is believed to have occurred when the driver of the vehicle attempted to avoid deer on the road, lost control of the vehicle, and hit a culvert.
Members of the Edmundston Fire Department and Ambulance New Brunswick also attended the scene.
An RCMP collision reconstructionist will also be attending the scene and is assisting with the ongoing investigation, along with a member of the New Brunswick Coroner's Office.
