Update: 46-year-old man charged in connection with investigation into child pornography

Update, July 2024: On July 15, 2024, Jared Eatmon appeared in Saint John Provincial Court, and was sentenced to two years less a day in prison on a charge of possession of child pornography.

Original news release from May 10, 2023:

A 46-year-old man from Saint John, N.B., has been charged following an investigation into child pornography in the community.

The investigation, led by the New Brunswick RCMP's Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit, began following information received from the RCMP's National Child Exploitation Crime Centre.

On September 28, 2022, police executed a search warrant at a residence in Saint John in connection with the investigation. During the search, police seized a number of electronic devices. A 46-year-old man was arrested at the scene.

On March 1, 2023, Jared Eatmon was charged with possession of child pornography and making available child pornography. He subsequently appeared in Saint John Provincial Court on March 14, and plead not guilty to both charges.

He was released on conditions and is scheduled to return to court on November 17 at 9:30 a.m.

The New Brunswick RCMP's Internet Child Exploitation Unit includes members from the Saint John Police Force and the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force. The RCMP's Digital Forensic Services Unit assisted with the execution of the search warrant and the analysis of the devices seized.

The investigation is ongoing.
