37-year-old woman dies following a two-vehicle collision

A 37-year-old woman from Carters Point, N.B., has died following a collision between a car and a one-ton truck in Welsford.

On July 21, 2023, at approximately 7:15 a.m., members of the Grand Bay-Westfield RCMP detachment, the Welsford and Grand Bay-Westfield Fire Departments, and Ambulance New Brunswick responded to a report of a collision between a car and a one-ton truck on Highway 7 in Welsford.

The driver and sole occupant of the car died at the scene as a result of her injuries. The driver and passenger of the one-ton truck were transported to hospital with what are believed to be serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

The collision is believed to have occurred when the car, travelling southbound, crossed the centre line and collided head on with the one-ton truck that was travelling northbound.

The Department of Justice and Public Safety, and Department of Transportation and Infrastructure attended and assisted at the scene.

A RCMP Collision Reconstructionist attended the scene and is assisting to determine the causes of the crash.

A member of the New Brunswick Coroner's Officer also attended the scene and is assisting with the investigation. An autopsy will be scheduled to determine the woman's exact cause of death.

The investigation is ongoing.
