A 16-year-old youth from Sussex, N.B., has been charged in connection with a series of incidents in the community.
On August 27, 2023, members of the Sussex RCMP detachment responded to a report of a theft in the Mount Middleton region. When police arrived, they located a 16-year-old youth who was found to be in possession of a number of stolen cell phones, vehicle keys, and money. Police also located two previously stolen vehicles in a ditch nearby.
On August 28, the youth appeared in Saint John Provincial Court, and was charged with:
- Five counts of theft under $5,000
- Three counts of break and enter into a residence
- Two counts of theft of a motor vehicle
- Resisting arrest
- Trespassing at night
The youth was remanded into custody, and is scheduled to return to court on August 31 for a bail hearing.
The investigation is ongoing.
