16-year-old boy dies following single-vehicle crash

A 16-year-old boy has died following a single-vehicle crash in Saint-Arthur, N.B.

On September 28, 2023, at approximately 10:03 p.m., members of the Campbellton RCMP detachment, Saint-Arthur Fire Department and Ambulance New Brunswick responded to a report of a single-vehicle crash on Route 275 in Saint-Arthur. A 16-year-old boy from Campbellton, who was a passenger in the vehicle, died at the scene as a result of his injuries. The driver of the vehicle was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.

The crash is believed to have occurred when the driver lost control of the vehicle and left the roadway. Both occupants were ejected from the vehicle.

An RCMP collision reconstructionist and a member of the New Brunswick Coroner's office are both assisting with the investigation. An autopsy will be conducted to determine the boy's exact cause of death.

The investigation is ongoing.
